After taking a break from blogging this summer, I’m back with an exciting post - a virtual tour of the Magic Speech Bus! This is the most requested topic I’ve received, so it’s about time to show you the ins and outs of this one-of-a-kind speech therapy office on wheels.
The Exterior
As you approach the Magic Speech Bus, you can’t help but notice the vibrant rainbow hues that cover the entire bus. The playful blend of rainbows, clouds, and sparkles invite everyone to explore the magic within. The carefully-designed logo and signage make it easy for you to know you’re in the right place!
Therapy Space
Stepping in through the sliding side door, you’re greeted by light-colored walls and pine ceilings that give a cozy cabin feel. Cushioned seats and soft lighting set the stage for relaxation - no hard plastic chairs or bright fluorescent lights! A variety of colorful posters hang around the room to educate visitors about speech therapy or to provide some encouraging words. Two bench seats make it easy to work face-to-face with clients. There is ample floor space toward the back of the room for hands-on play with younger children. Storage spaces are built into the bus to eliminate visual clutter.
A retractable gate slides across the back doors so the cool summer breeze can blow through without the risk of anyone losing their footing on the bus. The bus has a fan to circulate cool air all summer long - though we’re often outside instead! In the colder months, a powerful heater keeps the bus toasty and warm.
Touches of personality peek through in different parts of the bus. A laundry line hanging on one wall showcases artwork from young clients and inspires others who step aboard to get creative. Small paintings of some favorite things can be found around the room, as well as a homemade macrame shelf that displays a happy little houseplant. Hints of nature are seen in the decorations, including moon and star-shaped mirrors, shelving designed to look like a tree, and natural wood paneling on the ceiling and cabinets.

Feedback from clients speaks volumes about the impact of The Magic Speech Bus. Several parents have shared that their children ask for Ms. Kristin and “the rainbow bus” every day, and that their eyes light up when it’s finally speech day! The bus is a safe space for all children to truly express themselves and feel welcomed.
